Found an old worn sepia colored photo of my Grandfather Elmer, and his good friend Frank,-AKA,"Peaches." I used it as a reference for their figures and features only. All other elements in the painting are purely from my memory of visiting his Kentucky tobacco farm years ago. I really enjoy taking these old worn photos of relatives and bringing their spirit back to life in a watercolor. Spending time working on the painting is very enjoyable. Feels as if they are coming back to life...

On a recent fishing trip to central Oregon, I came across an abandoned farm house that looked as if it had been there since pioneer days. It was situated just yards from a small creek bed that still trickled with some life. The shadows from some very large trees near the creek, loomed across the grassy field like old spirits. The fact that these shadows pointed directly at the farmhouse was intriguing in a spooky sort-of way.

I just posted these images for sale as prints. This little dog is just as sweet and smart as she is cute! She poses like a pro top model. Wonder if Tyra would consider her for the next competition of America's Top Model? Bet she'd beat all those other girls!

It's hard to believe it's been a year today since Mom's passing. This morning Dad and I visited her. We left some nice flowers for her.
So glad that I painted a portrait of her and presented it to her and Dad about two years ago. The portrait was loosely based on an old photo that I found in the bottom of a box when we were helping my dad move some things around. I think she was in her early 30's when the photo was taken. I liked the way the light coming through a window caught her...
